You and your research

This was the title of an excellent talk given at Bell Labs in 1986 by Prof. Richard W. Hamming, in which he expounded on his observations on the question "Why do so few scientists make significant contributions and so many are forgotten in the long run?" It's sound advice for all ages and is bound to be applicable well beyond the research world.
